the LORD has come!
"Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!""And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests." Luke 2:6-12
"(Mary) wrapped (the baby) in cloths and placed Him in a manager, because there was no room for them in the inn.” Luke 2:7
"...Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, 'Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!' 'Martha, Martha,' the Lord answered, 'you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better...'"Luke 10:39-42
"But the angel said to her, 'Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus'...
'How will this be,' Mary asked, 'since I am a virgin?'"We love because He first loved us." 1 John 4:19
"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts..." Colossians 3:15
...just keep singing.
The birth of our Savior is enough reason to sing, Hallelujah to our King!
"Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
It was a very special and wonderful CHRISTmas celebration with family. The only downside was spending more time traveling on the road than with our loved ones. A back-to-back, 9-hour journey in a two-day span was taxing on all, but most of all for a one-year old.
Tired, fretful and strapped in a car seat, she was miserable and restless. Taking her little hand and gently rubbing it, she finally settled down and slept... and so did i.
How are you doing? Are you tired, fretful and strapped down to many activities? I know a Hand you can hold to find calmness and peace. Just hold your hand out, and let our Daddy's sweet love quiet your busy soul and flow over you and all your turmoil. There is rest and restoration with Him. Take it.
“Now concerning that day or hour no one knows—neither the angels in heaven nor the Son—but only the Father. Watch! Be alert! For you don’t know when the time is coming.” (Mark 13:32-33)
Delivering a print job to a second-grade teacher, her eyes twinkled as she told me of her latest class surprise. Startled, she noticed a student was missing. And when she asked the class about Annie's whereabouts, they told her she was in the bathroom.
When Annie finally emerged, she had changed... literally. Instead of her jeans and shirt, she was clothed in a long blue dress with apron, her ensemble was complete with a pillowcase head covering. She explained to the teacher she was now Mary. You know, Mary the mother of Jesus. Then others joined Mary, as they proceeded to perform their version of the CHRISTmas story.
Of all the things i might have expected today, meeting Jesus, as well as, His family and the angel and the donkey were a total surprise.
I don't know about you, but i going to change my expectations to the readiness of meeting Jesus every day! I certainly don't want to be caught in disbelief, but in complete JOY.
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your heart and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13
"Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him..." Psalm 37:7
"But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience." Romans 8:25
What is patience?
"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." Hebrews 13:8
"...let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith." Hebrews 12:1-2
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ." Ephesians 1:3
"Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed...
Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised." Romans 4:18, 20-21"And be thankful." Colossians 3:15
"Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you..." 3 John 1:2
"The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8
May we find comfort in knowing and trusting God with each minute, hour and day of our life. What seems hopeless, impossible or insurmountable to face is possible with Him. He has a plan, and it is good.
"Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name." Psalm 100:4
Crisis or cross... whichever one occupies our mind most, makes a significant difference.
Like these students, may our book overflow with thanks to God for His goodness. If we focus on our blessings instead of our disappointments, more of His Peace will fill our hearts and souls."And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and
to love mercy and
to walk humbly with your God." Micah 6:8
