"Come," He said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him. "You of little faith," He said, "why did you doubt?" Matthew 14:29‑31
Sometimes Jesus comes to where we are and sometimes, He calls us to step out of the boat in faith. Faith is not a one-time event or a one-way path. We don't simply "get it" and check it off our list... it is a continuous life process. We need only experience a dose of doubt like Peter for proof.
The initial act of faith is stepping out of the safety of our boat/environment... the place we know, trust and find comfort. Next, is fixing out eyes on Him so we can walk through the dark, murky, rough, deep waters of life. Third, is maintaining our focus on Him as the unexpected winds/temptations/trials of life roll our way, as they inevitably do. Even a mere glance away from our Lord and Master is long enough for the waves of life to engulf us in fear, doubt or unbelief.
Look around. Where are you? Don't get stuck in the boat or succumb to a "sinking" spell. Let's continue our walk in faith by keeping our focus and trust in Him.
Go on, do it. He's out there waiting to show you something spectacular.
we are loved and chosen by God,
may we live, love and do like we believe it,
veneal
