Stranded on buses until 1am, sleeping at school -- these were not planned field trips or activities, but they happened. And the first responders? School officials, bus drivers, teachers, administrators, custodians, cafeteria workers.
Although these events are not the norm, the decision of school personnel putting student needs first is. The public heard and saw their actions on an extraordinary day; i see and heard their dedication to our students on ordinary days. Extraordinary people on ordinary days. How blessed i am to witness and work with such selfless, devoted people... every day. Heroes in my eyes, as well as, parents and God. Thank you, sweet caretakers, of our children. You make God smile.
